Description
In this three-class course, you will knit the Halibut Mittens. Students will learn how to knit two-stranded colorwork by holding one color in their left hand (Continental) and one color in their right hand (English). This class will be taught using Magic Loop - students should have experience with this technique. Students should come to the first class with their cuff finished, ready to start the color work chart. We will discuss yarn management, how to read a colorwork chart, and begin the chart together. The second class will discuss decreases and picking up the thumb, and our last class will teach you to bind off using a sewn bind off.
The Halibut Mittens are a one-size mitten knit with fingering weight yarn. The size can be modified with changes to yarn choice and gauge, please reach out before the start of classes if you have questions and need to modify the pattern.
Full material list with suggestions will be emailed two weeks before the class starts or when the class is full. Please consider supporting The Dropped Stitch by purchasing your materials in-store. Participants are responsible for purchasing their own pattern for this class.
We will meet on Thursdays, October 30, November 6, and November 13, from 6:30 to 8 pm.
This class is intended for adults. If you are interested in private knitting lessons for children, please reach out to me.
Skill level: Intermediate, you are comfortable with the basics of knitting and know how to read a pattern. Students should have experience with Magic Loop technique.
